THK

THK was founded in 1971 in Meguro, Tokyo, under the name Toho Seiko Co., Ltd. In 1972, it became the world’s first company to develop a method for linear motion (LM) using rolling contact elements, and began manufacturing and selling LM guides (linear guides). THK’s linear motion systems have enabled advanced machinery to dramatically improve in precision and speed while reducing labor needs. With THK’s LM guides, machine tools and industrial robots can perform ultra-precise movements. These systems have been applied in LCD production lines, railway cars, assistive mobility devices, medical equipment, skyscrapers and residential buildings, as well as entertainment facilities. The use of LM guides has truly transcended conventional boundaries.
